The 7 Powerful Benefits Of Raindrop Therapy

This Months Special Feature

If you want to invigorate tired and stressed muscles, relieve neck and back pain, de-stress or simply slip into a blissful state of relaxation.

What Are Essential Oils? Essential oils are the concentrated essences extracted from raw materials such as; plants, flowers, herbs, resin, leaves, seeds, wood, bark, fruit and grasses.

What is Aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is the systematic use of volatile plant oils known as essential oils. Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy designed to treat the "whole" person by assisting the body's natural ability to regulate, balance and maintain itself. The therapeutic essential oils support the body by bringing it back to balance without harmful side effects of chemical based products.

What is Raindrop Therapy?

This 75 minute therapy is a wonderfully rejuvenating and deeply relaxing topical application of therapeutic essential oils. Raindrop Therapy combines several holistic modalities to bring balance to the body in a non-invasive manner. It also stimulates all of the body systems on a physical and emotional level.  The oils used in Raindrop are therapeutic grade and NOT adulterated oils. Adulterated oils contain synthetic chemicals or compounds and can be harmful to the body.

What Does It Involve?

The relaxing and mild application of the therapeutic-grade oils are gently dispensed like "little raindrops" up along the spine and back. The oils are worked into the skin by using soft feather-like movements and strokes. The essential oils are also applied to soles of feet and shoulders for reinforced benefits.

Why Is It Called Raindrop?

The essential oils are gently  dispensed like "little raindrops" along the spine and back.

7 BENEFITS OF RAINDROP THERAPY:

 1. Reduces Pain - Since its development, it is becoming clear that the elements of Raindrop therapy not only reduces chronic back pain but also benefits other body systems. The analgesic ingredients in the essential oils help reduce pain and discomfort.

2. Helps Relief Stress & Emotional Well-being  Therapeutic essential oils have a normalizing effect on the nervous system making them ideal for reducing stress, anxiety and tension.

The oils can immediately penetrate cell membranes and diffuse through the blood and tissues instantly in a matter of seconds! The oils also cross the brain-blood barrier and effect the limbic system (the Amygdale) parts of the brain that control our mood, behavior and emotions. So if you've lost your  "Joie de Vivre" Raindrop therapy will have you smiling and back to your normal self in no time.

3. Relax Muscles - Muscles that are sore, spastic or stressed will also benefit from Raindrop Therapy. Basil, wintergreen, marjoram, cypress and peppermint essential oils help with all the common muscle conditions.

4. Helps Reduce Inflammation - World wide studies have identified several essential oils as powerful anti-inflammatory agents. These include wintergreen, peppermint and thyme. These essential oils are all used in the Raindrop essential oil body therapy.

5. Helps Improve Circulation - Essential oils can be most beneficial in boosting circulation due to oxygenating properties. The essential oils of cypress, thyme, marjoram and peppermint all have properties that increase circulation and act as a circulatory stimulant.

6 Helps Detox the Body Systems - The therapeutic oils used in Raindrop therapy are high in phenols hence, cleanse cellular receptor sites and enhance the lymphatic system.

7. Helps improve Immune function  - Thyme and oregano essential oils are known to support the immune system. They also create an unfavorable environment for harmful viruses and bacteria that can hibernate and lay dormant in the body.

In short, the benefits of this therapy go well beyond the physical benefits. Raindrop can not only help relieve pain and restore immediate physical well-being, but it can set in motion the healing processes that will last for weeks.

Breathe deeply and enjoy the experience!

RAW TOUR 2012

Feeling Healthy, Being Alive!

Clive Langton, Director of RawBC

The increasing interest in health information, prevention and knowledge continues to grow in the Maple Ridge community. Individuals are looking for more ways to achieve the best possible level of health and well-being and last night's attendance was evidence of that. The interest in healthy living and the raw food lifestyle is on the rise and it is exciting. We can all feel healthier and  more alive by introducing great tasting raw foods to our diet.

A heartfelt thank you to Clive Langton, Director of RawBC for the educational, and entertaining evening. Clive inspired us as he shared his own personal journey. His presentation exuded passion, enthusiasm and a nice dose of humor which I always appreciate and enjoy.

A shout out to Maple Ridge Naturopathic Clinic for organizing and hosting the event. Dr. Jason Hughes a Naturopathic doctor, clinical supervisor and teacher at the Boucher Institute Of Naturopathic Medicine launched the evening with a brief informative presentation on "cell" function. His teaching abilities are quite evident.

Dr. J. Hughes, Gina Huges

Gina K Hughes a Raw Food Chef and real food mentor made delicious treats for everyone to sample. People's facial expressions painted a thousand words as they bit into the raw treats. I glanced over my shoulder and noticed a woman who had just bitten gingerly into the raw vegan dessert ball. Her eyebrows rounded, a grin began to form and then she lifted her head in amazement "It doesn't taste vegan, raw or healthy! she replied.

Gina K. Hughes will also be hosting the Golden Ears Raw Food meetup once a month in Maple Ridge. Gina's passion is to support you through your raw food journey and to cheer you on into great health. More details will follow with location and time.

Special thanks to Roots Natural Organic Foods for donating the lovely door prizes. Roots continues to be an active participant in promoting health in the community of Maple Ridge. They are exceptional!

Louella & Me
Overall, it was a wonderful educational community event. I foresee many more in 2013.  Staying healthy together!

Immune Boosting Foods & Nutrients

As autumn progresses and winter approaches staying positive and optimistic can be a challenge. Do waves of disappointment sweep over you?

Maintaining health this time of year doesn't have to be a losing battle. Keeping your body healthy and in "harmony" during the seasonal transition is possible.

The much dreaded flu and cold season is upon us. So, how can you bolster your defenses against these lurking invaders?

A strong immune response is crucial to protect the body against disease and illness. Here are some immune boosting foods & nutrients to fight off those "pesky" bugs.

Onion & Garlic: When combined these flavorful healers contain numerous antiseptic and immune boosting properties. Garlic, this potent onion relative contains the active ingredient allicin, which fights infection and bacteria.

Yogurt: The "live active cultures" found in yogurt, are healthy bacteria that keep the gut and intestinal tract free of disease-causing germs. Studies show that eating a cup of low-fat yogurt each day can reduce your susceptibility to colds by 25 percent.

Honey: Honey has numerous medicinal properties and is a natural way to soothe sore throats. It also has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties to help fight infections from viruses, bacteria and fungi.

Fish: Salmon, mackerel, and herring are rich in omega-3 fats, which reduce inflammation, increasing airflow and protecting lungs from colds and respiratory infections.

Bone Broth: My Mama and Nonna/Grandma know best and they were right. Home made soup is one of the greatest remedies to strengthen your immune and  most importantly the digestive system.  Use pasture raised beef or chicken and to Increase soup's immune-boosting power add some onions and garlic.

Mushrooms: Studies show that mushrooms increase the production and activity of white blood cells, making them more aggressive. Shiitake, maitake, and reishi mushrooms appear to pack the biggest immunity punch

Green Tea: Polyphenols, potent plant antioxidants, is what gives green tea its immune-boosting effects. So drink up!

Vitamin D: Laboratory studies indicate that the nutrient may help immune cells identify and destroy bacteria and viruses that make us sick. An immune-booster must!

Vitamin C: Is a powerful antioxidant that protects against infection and enhances immunity. Vitamin C works by increasing the production of white blood cells.

Probiotic: While yogurt is a good source of probiotics, I highly recommend an additional high potency multi-strain probiotic supplement. Probiotics support the immune system, balance the intestinal environment and inhibit the growth of pathogenic organisms.
